Why Lamauve Exists

Lamauve is a small independent publication about where good food comes from and what to do with it once it reaches the kitchen. It is written for home cooks, curious shoppers and anyone weighing up whether a weekly organic basket is worth the space in the fridge.

Who we write for

Readers are mostly people who cook several nights a week and want to understand what is in the box, who grew it and how to use all of it. Some are new to subscription baskets, others have received them for years and want fresh ideas for the third week of beets.

Three subjects, one table

  • Organic Food Baskets looks at what typically arrives in a basket, how pickup and delivery models differ, how to store produce and how to judge value without guessing.
  • Quebec Farming Cooperatives explains how farmer-owned groups work, what shared ownership means for growers and buyers, and how local supply shapes what ends up on a plate.
  • Seasonal Recipes offers cooking ideas organised around what is actually harvested at a given time of year, with substitutions for when your basket differs.

These themes feed each other. Understanding a cooperative explains why a basket changes from week to week, and a flexible recipe makes that change welcome instead of stressful.

How we work

The aim is useful guidance you can act on this week. Statements about farming, certification and food handling are checked against public sources such as agricultural agencies, cooperative publications and official food safety guidance. Recipes are written to be adaptable, and where a point depends on region, season or a supplier’s own rules, the article says so plainly.

Food information goes out of date. Seasons shift, cooperatives change how they operate and guidance is revised, so pages are reviewed and updated when something no longer holds.

If a detail is wrong, a recipe did not work as written or something about a cooperative is out of date, write to [email protected]. A fix goes straight into the article it concerns, so the next reader sees the right version.
